Day 58: Arbon to St Margrethen
We had a nice surprise the evening before. My good ol’ mate from Bedford, Nick aka Stan, arrived from England. He’s going to be joining us for the next six days! It’s great to have him here and I’m looking forward to cycling with him. Stan has rented a bike for five days so there will be three of us on the rides now! Check out our departure from Arbon below (Stan’s already lagging behind….).
Our ride today looked a simple one on the map. I was also going to visit my sixth country as part of the ride was in Austria. The part in Austria turned out to be the best part of the ride! Most of our journey followed the flat cycle route along the lake. When we reached the border with Austria we had to leave the lakeside and head in land. Once we discovered the bridge back into Austria, we made our north to the lake again. Check out the map below! We were a bit hesitant because we didn’t know the distance but we decided to check it out. Tim described this part as his favourite because of mountains that surrounded us. They certainly were stunning!
Stanley survived his first trip with us. It’s not hard to keep up with Tim so to be fair it was a pleasant start for Stan. We covered 35km in a couple of hours and were excited for the afternoons activities. These included hanging out in the pool and watching football. Let’s just say Dad was happy and I wasn’t with the footy results! Anyway, back on the road tomorrow!
