Day 7: Chichester to Lancing
It seems like it’s been raining for days and days. Finally, it stopped this morning! This was great news as I got ready for my next leg of the journey. It was a long ride in prospect. I’d be riding down the south coast to Brighton but stopping off in a place called Lancing (west of Brighton). The trip looked straight forward but I’m learning that this is never the case. I was feeling good after my yesterday’s massage and excited to get back on the bike. Just before we set off, I had a final chat to Richard. He was staying in the campsite and we’d chatted over the last few days. I enjoyed our conversations and appreciated his advice on how to take care of my arthritis. A big thank you for the donation as well! It’s much appreciated.
Dad and I set off to Chichester. It takes a while to get through the towns or cities because I’m constantly checking the map. The first half of the trip was lots of main roads and map checking but the second half was very enjoyable. I cycled along the coast enjoying the views and fresh sea air.
I made it to the campsite after cycling 53km! My longest ride so far of the trip. I’m feeling pleased to have finished a long ride and get back on the saddle. I realised in the evening that I hadn’t taken my medication…oops…but it’s a good sign that I didn’t have much pain and survived! I’m feeling pretty tired now though. Looking forward to tomorrow as three of my sister’s work colleagues are joining me for the next leg! Quality stuff!
