Days 82 & 83: Lavagna rest days
Since we arrived in Lavagna the weather has been awesome. Lots of sun and heat has raised our spirits and given us the opportunity to do some laundry. The campsite is excellent as well – friendly owners, a shop to purchase croissants from and a table tennis table. What more could you ask for? Well, our fellow campers are great too! Last night at dinner, a lady came over and gave us some potato frittas! We weren’t going to turn those down!
Day 82 involved me doing very little. I went to the beach to join Tim for some gym action but I failed miserably with my dips and pull ups (see below).
Dad went to Portofino in the morning on the train. Check out some of his snaps below.
We also played some table tennis. The court area is located on a building overlooking the campsite so while beating Tim and Dad, I could enjoy the scenery as well.
Day 83: We decided to stay an extra day in lavagna. The itinerary had extra rest days in case I struggled with my hip and I couldn’t cycle. But due to my good pace and solid health, I’ve gone too fast and now have days to make up. We want to arrive in Rome on World Arthritis Day so we need to spend a few more days sightseeing and resting rather than cycling (not so bad then eh?!). A chance to recharge the batteries before the final push to Rome!
Tim and I decided to cycle to Portofino in the morning but we didn’t make it! We cycled along the coast and then up a long hill before deciding it was wise to turn back. There was more climbing to do and we would have to cycle 60km. Therefore, we took a few snaps from our perch and descended back into Chiavari, a town next to Lavagna. We cycled around the centre and went shopping at a grocers market. It was a lovely place! Check out the snaps below!
I’ll be listening to the football this evening and getting ready to get back on the bike tomorrow! Woop woop!
