Day 74: Como to Milan
I’ve completed two thirds of the trip now! I can’t believe where the time has gone! What a perfect way to celebrate with a “fun” bike trip to Milan!
Cycling in Italy is a different challenge to the previous countries. The route planning is harder and the roads you have to cycle on are not designed for cyclists. Here I am with Tim trying to get to grips with today’s route.
To be honest, the ride wasn’t a classic. It was far from it actually. There isn’t a lot I can say about the trip apart from it was dull and busy. We cycled through the suburbs of Milan so there wasn’t much countryside. We’ve been spoilt by the beauty of Switzerland! It was all built up and the towns weren’t very pleasant. We had a few tricky moments on roundabouts but we managed to navigate our way to the campsite safely. The road surface was also poor so we spent lots of time swerving out of the way of potholes. Check out some of the “sights” from today and the data about the ride.
This type of ride was to be expected as we are so close to a big city. I’m looking forward to checking out the centre of Milan on my rest day tomorrow. My body seems to be in good shape. I’ve stopped wearing the GoPro on my helmet so my shoulder and neck feel a lot better!
