Day 12: Dover to Calais
It was time to pop across the water and say “Bonjour” to France. I had the simple task of riding 7km to a safe place where we could load the bike. The ride was through a National Trust Park on the white cliffs of Dover. There were lots of stunning views of the harbour and the castle. I was feeling a little sad to be leaving England but now the adventure really starts to take off!
The ferry ride was fun and went by really quickly. The weather was perfect the views of France were special. I couldn’t wait to get cycling! I really wanted to roll off the ferry and pedal away! I helped Dad navigate our way out of the tricky port roads. Once it was safe, he parked up and I got on my bike. The campsite was only 7km down the road so I took my time and went exploring down little back streets. My body felt okay and I wanted to ride for longer but I think it’s wise to relax a little and recover. No plans tomorrow other than finding a boulangerie and tucking into some croissants! It’s great to be in France! Tres bon!
