Day 105: Albinia to Feniglia
One week to go until I arrive in Rome! I can’t believe I’ve reached this point after all the months of planning and cycling. It means I only have six rides left so I’d better make the most of them- starting with today!
Brandi was on cycling duty after a couple of months resting back in Korea. It was great to have her back on the bike and I looked forward to our trip. Check out the photo below.
Today’s ride was a short one on paper- only 22km! We were cycling down the coast to an island that is joined to the mainland by a couple of thin strips of land. The start of the ride was simple- we followed the cycle path next to the dual carriageway and over a rickety bridge (see below).
The next section of the ride wasn’t enjoyable. We pedalled along a busy main road while cars whistled by our ears. Welcome to Italy Brandi!
We then discovered a gravel cycle track on the next part of the road. It was enjoyable to be away from the main road but it didn’t last long. We turned the corner and bang- it disappeared! Check out my surprised reaction below.
After 1hr 30mins of cycling we made it to the campsite. Once again we are next to the beach so we made our way over in the afternoon for a splash in the sea. The route today was flat as pancake, which was good because I’ve got another huge ride tomorrow. Hopefully my hip and muscles are in good shape for it!
