Days 62 & 63: Chur rest days
The last two rest days have been very chilled. It is Stan’s final days with us as well so it’s been good to spend some time together.
Yesterday, we checked out the old town in Chur. We cycled into the centre and looked around the small streets gazing at the interesting buildings. I like wandering through the warren of small streets because you never know what’s around the corner. You catch glimpses of the mountains in the distance so it makes the area pretty cool.
In the afternoon we visited the swimming pool next to the campsite. It’s an awesome facility with a couple of pools, slides, football pitches, a ping pong table and the most pristine grass you’ve ever seen. What a lovely way to spend the afternoon.
This morning I went for my massage. My masseur was called Ivo. He was from Switzerland and has done lots of travelling. We had travelled to many of the same places so we chatted away (his English was very good!). I asked Ivo to focus on my shoulders and calves. It was quite a painful experience! Anyway, a big thank you to Ivo for the massage and the donation to the charities. Your generosity is much appreciated. Top man!
Stanley also left us after 5 days of staying with us and completing 87 miles on the bike. Top effort mate! It’s been great having him here and I hope to see him soon in Rome!
The rest of the day was spent relaxing and getting prepared for tomorrow. I’ve got a long ride ahead because of the hills I have to climb. I hope it’s not too steep!
